How to Make Steak with Gravy Potatoes and Carrots in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
Within the first three months of the start of Recipes That Crock, I made what became one of my all time favorite recipes, Slow Cooker Steak with Gravy. It was so simple and incredibly delicious. I loved the flavor and the melt in your mouth tenderness of the roast. I have made many delicious recipes through the years, but Slow Cooker Steak with Gravy has remained at the top of my favorites list. What could possibly make this beloved recipe better? Making a one pot meal, that's what! So, now you have my new favorite recipe, Crock Pot Steak with Gravy Potatoes and Carrots. It has everything I love about the original recipe with the wonderful addition of veggies!
Since making the original recipe, we have had many people ask what a Flat Iron Steak is and what can be substituted for it. This tells me that there are many areas that do not sell this particular cut of beef. Never fear! You can use whatever cut you can get your hands on. Cooking this low and slow will give you an amazing meal. An easy tip to remember when cooking beef in a slow cooker on low is, "If your meat is not tender enough, give it a little more time." You will be glad you did when you are enjoying a wonderful bite of this delicious meal!
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed
- 2 lbs flat iron steak, cut into serving size pieces
- 1 oz pkg onion soup mix
- 1/4 cup water
- 10 3/4 oz can of cream of mushroom soup
- 16 oz bag baby carrots
- 6 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
Equipment Needed
- Sharp knife
- Cutting board
- Vegetable peeler
- Measuring cup
- Medium bowl
- Fork or whisk
- Stirring spatula
- 6 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cooking Time: 6 to 8 hours on low (I do not recommend cooking this recipe on high. When cooking beef, it is best to cook on low for a longer time to have a tender and juicy result at the end of cooking.)
